Complex Rehabilitation: A Patient with Stage 4 Periodontitis
It was not an easy case, where we encountered psychological problems related to the Patient’s lack of confidence in implant treatment, fear of tooth extraction, and the risk of being “left with nothing.” Most of the teeth were mobile; there were abscesses in the projection of several teeth and pus flowing from periodontal pockets. The...
Rehabilitation started with complex periodontal treatment: instrumental treatment of teeth, professional hygiene, extraction of some teeth, and local and general antibacterial therapy.
We gained the Patient’s trust step by step. After periodontal treatment, the Patient agreed to implant rehabilitation of the upper jaw according to the All-on-4 protocol. The dentist extracted all teeth on the upper jaw under sedation, inserted four implants, and fixed temporary crowns.
Implants were placed in the frontal and lateral parts of the lower jaw. Two months later, implant-supported zirconium structures were fabricated and fixed to the upper and lower jaws.
The treatment results in excellent functional and aesthetic outcomes, stabilization of periodontitis around the remaining teeth, and fulfillment of our Patients’ expectations.
