Teeth implantation

What is a dental implant?

Dental implentation is a method of installing an artificial "root" in the upper or lower jaw of a patient. Implants are used to support crowns and fixed or removable dentures.

Implants are typically made of titanium. Similarly, this material is used in the making of artificial heart valves and joints.

Important advantages of titanium:

1. Compatibility with the human body.

2. Bone tissue can "grow" into the body of the implant (the process is known as «osseointegration»).

3. It does not cause allergic reactions.

4. Creates a sense of «own» teeth.

Why choose dental implants?

We often recommend replacing extracted teeth with dental implants. Dental implants have a great advantage - the bone can grow around the implant, keeping the natural look and structure. If an implant is not placed, it may lead to a loss of bone tissue. In order to replace an extracted tooth without using an implant, it is usually necessary to use a bridge prosthesis which often affects healthy adjacent teeth.

Therefore, this results not only in a reduction of boss mass but also a possible loss of healthy tooth tissue. Dental implants have become a standard treatment in cases of tooth loss. Due to their excellent properties, dental implants provide long-term results when they are adequately cared for by patients.

were left for the support of a
temporary construction during the
period of implant integation.
We placed 8 dental implants with
a subsequent manufacturing of a
metal-ceramic construction using
screw fixing

Removal of teeth.

Specialists at our clinic are able to remove teeth in the most complex of cases.

Recent scientific studies indicate that after the removal (extraction) of a tooth and during the first four months thereafter, a bone loss of up to 60% can take place. This negatively affects any further rehabilitation toothless area. Firstly, the loss of bone volume complicates future implantation and tooth prosthesis, secondly it adversely affects the aesthetic appearance of the teeth and soft tissue.

In order to secure an aesthetic and functional result, our practice uses different methods of well preservation following a tooth extraction. After a removal of a tooth and depending on the clinical situation, we may use DBBM-Collagen, collagen matrix and the Punch- technique of soft tissue preservation. These are the lastest Swiss techniques to preserve tissue after tooth extraction and preparation for future implantation, which we successfully use in our clinic.

Improving the quality of life.

Missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures are generally perceived as a sign of a deteriorating quality of life. They have also proven to cause various problems. Functionality and aesthetics require that fixed prosthesis are placed without any compromises and they should, of course, be durable. Implant fuses with the bone tissue and thus takes on the role of a tooth root and can withstand any weight placed on it during the chewing process. The new generation of implants provide a look of natural teeth. The issue of "not a real tooth" has now been fixed. Hardly any difference can be detected between implants and real teeth!

Doctors in our clinic pay great attention to the 3 -D diagnosis, planning and navigation implantation.

Detailed planning is a prerequisite for the implantation of a long-term, functional and aestheticly successful implant. The ideal position of the implant is determined by our doctors before the procedure commences.

Accurate anatomy of jaws, nerves and blood vessels, that must not be damaged, can only be seen on a three-dimensional image made on a high quality cone beam tomography.

On the basis of such three-dimensional volumetric imaging, the content of the bone mass can be analysed very accurately. It is even possible to determine the bone density. Bone tissue can be measured with an accuracy of 0.2 mm.

Implant planning. Navigation implantation.

We undertake implant planning with the assistance of SMOP, a  Swiss program (swissmeda com).

The doctor is able to place implants with surgical precision. Aesthetics and strength of the implant is optimized by a surgical template made by specialists of the dentistry department at the University of Zurich.

The concept of "all on 4".

Using surgical templates, we are able to use the concept of «all on 4» with no errors and complications, which provides our patients with a prosthetic construction immediately after the implantation procedure.

immediately after an implant placement

Benefits of the concept:

1. Attachment of the full dental arch using only four implants.

2. It is not necessary to build any additional bone tissue.

3. Immediate weight bearing capability; reduces the number of visits, since the procedure can be completed in one visit.

4. Provides a fixed design which is more convenient for a patient than a removable option.

5. This method has been scientifically proved to be effective.

Zirconium implants.

Zirconium implants are used for those patients who can experience allergic reactions to titanium. This occurs once in every 10,000 cases.

An allergy test is performed prior to the implantation procedure and is called "LCT" (Test the transformation of platelets).
